In partnership with the Immigrant Youth Centre (IYC) at Centre for Immigrant and Community Services (CICS), the Bike Rescue Program is dedicated repair hours for aspiring volunteer mechanics to work on refurbishing bikes in rough shape that have been donated to Markham Cycles.
Refurbished bikes are then used to aid Markham Cycles programming, such as the Cycle the City youth program, as well as donated back into the community.
This program is open to any community members interested in learning how to fix mechanical issues on bikes in a comfortable and encouraging environment. To sign up for Bike Rescue, please sign up to volunteer here. Due to COVID-19, we’ve had to limit volunteer slots and positions. You will contacted only if we are in need of volunteers.
Bike Rescue takes place bimonthly on Tuesdays, 1pm-5pm at the Immigrant Youth Centre.
This program runs from May to the end of August.
